There’s been a steady flow of great news from the Cardiff Planning Team as we’ve secured planning permission for three projects in the last six days. The first is for the transformation of a large house on Cathedral Road, the front half will be carefully restored to its former glory and the rear half demolished and rebuilt to provide contemporary living space as a contrast to the Edwardian splendour of the front with easy access to the southwest facing, large rear garden.
The second is for the conversion of two floors of offices above prime retail premises in Pontcanna. The space will be converted into three apartments in a great location with easy access to the city centre, the local parks and the other retail offers.
Our third is for the removal of a roof on the last remaining original bungalow in a prime road in Pentyrch, overlooking the Vale of Glamorgan. The design will provide our clients with fantastic upside-down living accommodation, bedrooms on the retrofitted ground floor and open plan kitchen/dining/living with a snug on the first floor. The views have been exploited by large sliding glass doors with a glazed Juliette balcony to provide access to 180 degrees of scenery towards Cardiff to the east and Cowbridge in the west.
The service from the planning department, although not as fast as we have been used to in the past, has been thorough and efficient and despite a prolonged period of Local Authority budgetary cutbacks, we consider the service to be one of the best in Wales.
